Objective To heat an aluminum in-cap laminate to a temperature of 350°F in order to seal the laminate to the container
Material 3.5” (100mm)
Temperature 350 ºF (177°C)
Frequency 300 kHz
Equipment Power of 4.5kW induction heating system; custom-designed work coil; workhead including one .66μF capacitor
Process A single-turn helical coil generates the heating pattern for this application (see photo). The induction system heats the assembled lid-foil-container to the required temperature. The seal is achieved after ~1 second of heating.
Results/Benefits Economy: Power is applied directly to the foil; no energy is wasted heating the cap or the surrounding air or parts.
Automation: this heating system is easily integrated into automated processes
Control: the quality of the seal is ensured with the control of the heating system
